Wilson's The Paint Store
90 Howland Drive
Across from Walmart
It all started in the late winter of 1975 when Doug Wilson, who had been a sales representative for a wallpaper manufacturer for many years decided that it was time to be his own boss. In the spring of 1976 Doug & Marian leased a unit in the Seagram Plaza opening Wilson's Paint & Wallpaper on May 21st of that year. The store opened with a full line of Benjamin Moore Paint and a huge inventory of wallpaper, a very popular item at the time.
The store remained at that location for 10 years at which time the Wilson's moved the business to 18 John Street just a few feet from the original location. Over the 20 years at that location many changes took place, the size of the building was increased, computer colour matching was introduced, a five gallon paint shaker was added to the range of equipment and Para Paint and Sikkens wood finishes were added to the selection of products. In the 90's the popularity of wallpaper faded so in order to make more room for more paint products the Wilson's phased out wallpaper and changed the name of the business to “Wilson's THE PAINT STORE”
The paint store is now located at 90 Howland Drive in the Commerce Court area of Huntsville. Doug & Marian are both retired and the business is now owned and operated by their son Darryl assisted by grandson Chris and a well experienced staff. Many new products have been introduced like Sansin wood finishes, Cabot stains and an ever expanding selection of painting tools and sundries.
With paint prices to suit every budget and colours to suit every taste Wilson's THE PAINT STORE is the place to buy your paint in Huntsville.
